TheChibyVerse Spotlight: DJ NAFFY

From DJing Indian parties across VI to running her own sold-out event Ctrl, DJ Naffy on why a ChibyVerse crowd is chaotic, electric, euphoric and home.

"I'm the sauce and the icing on the party."

Ask Olatunji Naffisat Titilayo, known to Lagos as DJ Naffy, to sum up what she does behind the decks and she doesn't reach for a résumé. That line is the whole pitch, and somehow it's exactly true.

But the sauce didn't come pre mixed. Before Lagos knew her name, she spent over a year DJing Indian parties across VI and Lekki, learning the room the hard way, gig after gig, no shortcuts. "Be kind to yourself," she says now, looking back. "Things take time, but as long as you believe in yourself, things will fall into place."

 

"This Was Real, and There Was No Going Back"

These days, Naffy runs her own event, Ctrl, and if you want to know the exact moment it stopped being a dream and started being real, she'll tell you straight. "It was the moment people started buying tickets. That's when it clicked. This was real, and there was no going back."

"They bring the energy, and I always know I have to match it. I bring the party, they bring the energy. We just go together real good."

 

Chaotic. Electric. Euphoric.

Three words for a Chibyverse night, straight from the booth: Chaotic. Electric. Euphoric. "Chaotic because the energy is always moving, always building. Electric because you can feel it in the air. And euphoric because by the time you're deep into the set, everyone's just fully gone, in the best way."

As someone who reads rooms for a living, Naffy doesn't mince words about what makes The Chibyverse different. No performing for the camera, no posing. "They don't pretend to vibe if they're not vibing. What you see is what's real." Ask her to soundtrack the feeling in one song and she doesn't hesitate. "The Kick" by Don Jazzy x Wande Coal, the track that "grabs the room the same way The Chibyverse does."

 

"They're Actually Doing the Work of Building People Up"

She's not shy about giving credit where it's due either. In an industry she's called brutally competitive, tougher still as a woman coming up in it, she says The Chibyverse actually invests in the DJs who pass through it. Resident spots, real platforms, not just a one night booking and a goodbye. "I have to give The Chibyverse their flowers. They're not just talking. They're actually doing the work of building people up."

Every set starts with a read of the room, Gen Z, millennial, or a mix, but at The Chibyverse she says the energy's already high before she even touches the first fader. Her job isn't to build the room from zero. It's to match what's already there, then push it further.

 

"Playing for a Family"

She sees more than a crowd when she's up there. She sees a family that walked in already connected. "It doesn't feel like I'm performing for a room of strangers. It feels like I'm playing for a family." And in the brand's refusal to wait for permission before building something on its own terms, she recognizes her own story staring back at her. "Nobody handed either of us the blueprint. We made it as we went."

Float a Ctrl x Chibyverse crossover and she doesn't blink. "Two spaces that already move people, combined in one room? A moment." Hand her the aux with zero rules and zero expectations, and the answer is instant. No dance floor safety net, straight hip hop.

The Chibyverse is… HOME. And her last word for the family reading this says everything. "They make me feel completely at home, and I always have the best time."
